There is a thread on this already, i tried to reply to it but could not for some reason.

Any way loading network icons was taking ages, everything else boots quick except for network icons which just hung on every boot for ages.

I looked for a fix here on the forum, this might not work for every one, but i just disabled "HP CUE DeviceDiscovery Service" in services, its made my day, as this problems been bugging me for quit a while now, as i say might not work for every one but i followed the advice and its worked for me. :D

It's about Net Framework v.4.0 . It İnstalls a Service called "Microsoft .NET Framework NGEN v.4.0..."
From Services make it "manuel" instead of "Automatic" Network and its icon will appear very fast on next boot.Because of not diasbling it; your programs which depends on Net Framework won't be affected.

The Microsoft .NET Framework NGEN service suggested by xcawhy was exactly my problem. Windows XP Pro SP3 would boot very fast but the Network Icon took a few minutes to show. Changing the Microsoft .NET Framework NGEN service from Automatic to Manual was a solution that worked. You can access this service in a few different ways:
1. Start | Programs | Administrative Tools | Services
(Classic Menu with Display Administrative Tools Checked)
-OR-
2. Start | Run | services.msc

Scroll Down to Microsoft .NET Framework NGEN v4.0.30319_X86 and double click it, change the startup type: From Automatic to Manual and Reboot.

Hi, some of my clients are still using Windows XP in this age... lol... But your advice actually helped me. It reduced the wait time from 2 minutes to like 30 seconds. Programs like Avira antivirus require .Net framework and that service. Hello from 2016 :)

You might be able to reduce it down to 2 seconds if you disable or set to manual the "Windows Remote Management (WS-Management)" service as well. This is what worked for me after installing the .NET Framework 4 package on Windows Server 2003 x64 Standard Edition. I had to wait around 30 seconds on every startup for the Network Icon to show up and for that matter to be able to use any Network or Internet connection. Hope it helps!
