Hey Guys,

I was trying to install Windows 8 CP on my Computer and it won't install.

Im installing it via 4GB USB and it boots until the Beta Fish Icon shows up. But when the Loading Icon Shows it stops and goes into a Black Screen and that is it.

My Specs:

Intel Dual Core E2200 2.2Ghz
Nvidia GeForce 6600 LE 128MB
2GB RAM
WD Caviar 80GB HDD
Creative Sound Blaster Sound Card (Not sure of the Model)

This System Runs Windows 7 properly. Will Windows 8 run properly on this one too? If so then why can't I install it?

Well this also happened when I downloaded the Dev Preview of Windows 8. Guess Ill just have to wait for the RTM then :D I might still redownload though...

And yeah I don't have a DVD Drive nor a CD Drive. It was like 3 years ago since I last use them on my PC so they don't function properly anymore.

I havn't been able to install it either, but I suspect its because of the crappy hardware specs on the laptop Ive tried it on. (got the new BsoD :sarcastic: )

A few things you could try:

1) Install it from Windows 7 (an upgrade)
- You cant "downgrade", so backup your system, which I assume you already did.

2) Setup a virtual machine, and install win8 on that.

I suggest you don't bother downloading it, you'll only get sick after seeing how horrible it is. I installed it, played around for a few hours and realize I can't do any real work inside of a UI like that. What a major step backwards!

Did you try the desktop in win8 or only the metro part?
I havent tried first hand myself, but some of my friends had the same reaction as you, but that was because they didn't know the traditional desktop from win7 is still there in 8.

I installed it over windows 7 but tbh I would agree with p05esto,wish I didn't bother, even for a beta it's not good, switching to desktop aswell everything is slow and buggy and I get constant freezes/crashes.I'm no expert by any means but when you are installing it again make a partition 1st so you can just wipe it when you realize it's nowhere near functional yet.

Try installing to VHD http://boyans.net/HowTo_InstallWindows8_to_VHD.html

It is less dangerous than installing to partition - you don't need a free partition. But you need 16 GB for the VHD (recommended size for 32-bit Win 8 CP installation).

Native VHD installation compared to installation to partition has only a small disk performance degradation.

When installing detach everything not really needed (if additional devices present).
