Hello everyone!

I'm a complete noob when it comes to AMD cpu's and board, and now I want to build a budget rig using Athlon II X4 640, but I don't know which board to purchase. Now I don't need any fancy stuff like SLI or CrossFire, just some USB 3.0 and SATAIII is enough. Please help me choose the AM3 or AM3+ socket Motherboard.

Thanks!

A good place to start when looking at building a PC is what is it you're trying to accomplish? What do you want the computer to do for you? Knowing the budget on how much you're willing to spend helps a lot too.

Well I have a monitor - 1440x900, case, PSU - 650W, 500GB HDD x 2, 250GB x 1, Mouse and Keyboard. So all I need is CPU, GPU, Motherboard and DDR3 1600Mhz RAM, and if possible buy a 64GB SATAIII SSD. CPU must be a 4 core, so the cheapest 4 cores are Athlon II x4 and Phenom II x4. So I need a board to with all this. RAM could be 1333Mhz but I would like it very much if it's 1600Mhz. Help me :)

What is a suitable Motherboard for Athlon II x4 640 CPU? Because I see that the CPU has OPERATING FREQUENCY 3.0Ghz and there also something called HYPER TRANSPORTS which is 4000Mhz, and this board I chose, Biostar A880GZ, has 2600Mhz HYPER TRANSPORT (5200MT/s). Is this board gonna hold back my CPU? Can some1 explain that HYPER TRANSPORT thing?

Thank you!
