Hi i have just bought a Acer Aspire V3-771G

It has the dedicated graphics but i want a better graphics card for this.

They have told me that the graphics card can be upgraded but i will have the ask my local technician.

To be honest these guys at Acer barely speak a word of English and i would like a second opinion on this.

The laptops graphics card is the Nvidia Geforce 710m

it's soldered onto the system board. You CANNOT upgrade it after purchasing it. There may be an option to upgrade that model laptop from the base GPU to a better GPU before purchasing it, but after purchasing it, ur stuck with what it has.

You really can't upgrade system components in laptops much. You can always change the HDD or RAM, but it's tough to change the screen, keyboard, or disk drive in most cases (if at all possible). Sometimes you can upgrade CPU. But you can never upgrade the GPU or anything else soldered to the main board.

Depends a lot on who you spoke with. The level 1 technicians usually don't know much about computers at all. They type in the problem or question you have on their computer and a pre-generated script comes up with the answer they give you. So that's a possibility. Another is they could have misunderstood what you were asking. As ittimjones said, "There may be an option to upgrade that model laptop from the base GPU to a better GPU before purchasing it". The representative from Acer could have thought you meant that, and not what you really were thinking, which is upgrading the GPU after you purchased the laptop.

Off hand I don't know of a good gaming laptop but if I was going to seek one out I would start with either Asus or Dell. Both make quality gaming laptops. Dell has the Alienware (http://www.alienware.com/Landings/laptops.aspx?~ck=mn) laptop product line and Asus has their Gseries (G55 and G75 http://usa.asus.com/Notebooks/).

I hope that helps and I wish you luck!
