I have a problem where windows 8 64bit keeps losing my Gigabye 7970 settings and reverting back to Basic Windows Display Adapter in the device manager. This seems to happen randomly when ever I reboot the computer for some reason. I end up spending a hour switching how the video card is connected to my monitor and some times I can get it recognize the card correctly in windows. I am using the newest catalyst drivers and have even tried installing the newest beta drivers hoping to solve the issue. My mobo is a Asrock Extreme 4 with the newest bios and I also have the integrated video disabled in the bios.Anyone know of a solution I'm not really sure if its a windows 8 issue or something related to to video card. Any help appreciated.

Hm... tough one. There are a few things you can/should do.
Check if the card is under warranty. If so, contact Gigabyte. They might have have you flash the card (i've done it in the past). They also might replace it.

If not, it wouldn't hurt to completely reseat the card.

Also, try installing linux or a Windows 7 trial and see if you have the same issue.
