See the posts here (http://gamedev.stackexchange.com/questions/50863/is-it-possible-to-use-this-server-as-a-gaming-pc) and here (http://serverfault.com/questions/486791/is-it-possible-to-turn-a-server-like-this-into-a-gaming-pc).

I'm really hoping yall might be able to help me out here.

I'm thinking about purchasing a server like this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-PowerEdge-C6100-XS23-SB-4-Node-ESXi-Server-8x-L5420-128GB-RAM-4x-1TB-SATA-/140927828457?pt=COMP_EN_Servers&hash=item20cff401e9

and putting in some awesome graphics cards so I can use it as a gaming pc (among other things).

Would that even work? Would there be slots in it for me to put graphics cards?

For one, this should go into the Systems category more than graphics and displays. Second, no, this would make a horrible gaming machine. It's not going to accept any kind of high end graphics card. It's a server, and it's built for a specific purpose, being the front end for games is not one of those purposes. You can likely run a game server off that computer very well, but playing games on there is going to be a miserable experience (since you won't have any hardware acceleration).

Search for a high end gaming machine if you want to spend two grand on a computer for gaming, you'll be able to get a machine that can play any game out there on the highest setting.

Something like that would not make a good gameing pc .. no matter how crazy high the specs for ram or the amount of drive space it may have its a hard core file / application server/ so unless you planning on hosting a website or have a significant amount of files that multiple people need to have access to at the same time from various locations i would sugjest against it. for the amount of money this thing costs you would be better off going with one of the sugjested build lists. how ever if your looking to do possibly a gaming server then this could fit the bill but it would be a waist for just one instance.

Server system as a gaming platform - yes its possible
The one you linked? NO

You need something thats not a proprietary form factor that will fit in a regular case, that will accept a dedicated video card, and a gaming oriented PSU.

something like this is probably closer to what you had in mind

(im sure there are better choices)

After that you will have to buy the expensive xeon CPUs and the expensive server RAM, and put it all together. When thats done you will have a system thats massive overkill, and will run for 5-10 years.

From what I can see of the Dell hardware owner's manual for that system:
http://www.dell.com/support/Manuals/us/en/19/product/poweredge-c6100

There is no PCI-e slot for a video card. There is a sideways mounted expansion slot, but it won't hold a video card. You're limited to VGA, which is all a server needs.

According to the motherboard maker, there is no video card slot available in that motherboard. Can't do gaming without a videocard.
