Good GPU vs. Good CPU

Hi, I am about to build my first gaming pc, and i am a bit undecided about whether I should buy a GTX 660 with a i5 3470 CPU, or get a GTX 650ti and an i5 3570k CPU? Thanks in advance.

Your best choice for gaming would be the GTX660 and 3470, that is if you don't want to overclock your CPU past 4GHz or you don't want to overclock your CPU at all.

i'd personally go for a better CPU over the GPU, simply because the latter is much easier to upgrade and more likely to sell when i don't need it no more.

though if you're not all that big into OCing, you won't miss out a lot going for a non-K i5 + a better GPU, and it'd be the better choice then when on a strict budget.

If the cheaper GPU is valued at less than 30/35% of your total system, then invest in the better GPU.

I'd definitely get a GTX 660 and a i5 3470, the 650 ti is a crap card for the price.

The general consensus is to spend around twice as much for a GPU then you did for the CPU. A 660 with a 3470 is much more powerful for games.

Personally I would get the 3570K and a GTX 660 or better if you can.
