I have a compaq presario S0000, S3200NX, with a Micro Star MS-6390 VER 30B motherboard. Also, a 250W supply. I bought a High Def HP Pavilion 22BW monitor that supports 1080p. What video card would you recommend to get the most benefit from my Display. No gaming needs, just a desire to get the full capability from the Display, preferably more than the S3 ProSavage8 can provide. Using Windows XP.

I believe there were some AMD/ATI Radeon HD 3000-series cards produced for AGP or you could look at an nVidia GeForce 8000- or 9000-series card (I don't think there were any AGP versions of later NV ones like the GeForce G200 but there were a few, rare, AGP versions of Radeon HD 4000 cards).

If you're not bothered about gaming, you might also consider a regular PCI card as these are still produced in small quantities - I've recently used a PCI GeForce GT610 made by Zotac to upgrade an old AGP-equipped HP Pavilion PC so it can connect to a TV over HDMI.

Just wanted to let the forum know that I bought a JATON 3DFORCE6200Twin-LP, GeForce 6200 256MB 64-Bit DDR2 4X/8X AGP Video card and installed it last night. It did the trick. It made my old computer relevant again allowing me to use the 1920x1080 resolution.
