When I overclock my fx-8350 @ 4.7 Ghz my graphics card delivers lower frames, and there are like 1 second lag spikes and shutters when I play a game when i am overclocking, my gpu is a AMD Radeon 7970 Ghz Edition from Gigabyte, is this even normal. When I dont overclock and I am at a default clock of 4.0 Ghz - 4.2 Ghz I get smooth frames and wonderful gameplay.

Solution
what is your power supply? i am afraid fps drop is caused by power shortage and overall system throttling down

edit : nvm, corsait tx 750 v2 is alredy enough :)

Well, the games play worse when the CPU is overclocked, its weird I know, but could it be that the cpu is performing too fast?

The CPU default clocks at 4 Ghz w/ 4.2 Turbo, ill try again today and see what happens.

Overclocking is over rated. Why don't you just enjoy your game and leave the OC pissing contest to the tinkerers?
