Taking off the lid from a 3770k / 3570k worth it?
I seems to get a mixed response when i search, like to hear from toms xtreme overclockers who have done this :)

Beleive piledriver is fluxless solder. Removal would require heating the IHS enough to make solder melt, a fast path to destroying your cpu. even then a big drop in temps like those achieved with ivy bridge ihs removal isn't likely. Ivy's heat output is relatively low compared to piledriver, it's just they used sh!t thermal interface material rather than solder under the ihs.
wow never actually heard of this but now i see what it is now im wondering if this is possible on my fx series. pretty sure my heatspreader is on there for good?

as far is ican see it doesnt look to bad with a razor blade and a nicesurface. i would actually game for a while and let it heat up then try getting it off
