I don't know what the problem is. I have an HP Pavilion dv6 laptop that only works with one specific ethernet cord. I have tried other cords but none of them work for my laptop (although they work for my Xbox 360). Any help would be appreciated.
Could be a loose wire in the jack on the laptop that happens to match the other cable. Is the laptop saying that there is no cable connected when you try the other ones?

Yeah, my laptop doesn't even recognize that the cable is plugged in. If the problem is the loose wire in the jack, can I just fix it? Thanks for helping!
Look and see, it's usually not too easy to get to them without damaging the pins though. They should all be level with each other.
By "look and see" do you mean open up the laptop? What/where should I be looking for? Sorry for so many questions, I appreciate your help. Sorry, I forgot to use the reply function :<.

You can see the ethernet connections without opening the laptop, they are right on the outside, you can see the pins.
