Description:

After playing 5mins to 1hour, full-volume distorted static noise. In some games, it phazes out in pulses and slowly returns to normal sounds. In other games, it remains a full-volume static hiss.

Devices Affected:
Sound Blaster X-Fi Gamer Fatality series: green speaker port
EVGA 750 SLi FTW Real-Tek: on board green speaker port

Testing:

(Dead Space 3 is my best test-bed as the sound can be replicated every time in the first 5 mins of the game- Sound distortion is present when in full-screen game mode. Press windows key and instant silence/normality occurs. Open media player and normal sound/music occurs. Return to the game and static resumes. Static will vanish after 2mins if I press escape to bring up the in-game menu, then windows key to minimize the game)

(Hitman: Absolution- runs for hours with zero audio corruption)

--Some games never cause the issues: Mumble + Battlefield 3 + WinAmp = normal

--Multiple headphone's used, same sound replication when present in all speaker peripherals.

--I've tried turning off all the advanced features of my Xi-Fatality card, and those of the on board sound.

--I've set the internal sound bit processor on both sound devices to 24bit, 192000Htz thru 16bit, 41000Htz..

--I removed the Sound Blaster card properly, retested with on board audio only: problem persists

--Removed on board device from Device Manager, restarted to update drivers- problem persists

--All other audio devices are disabled in "Playback Devices"

--All extra video & sound codecs have been removed. (I could use instructions on how to reinstall the default audio codecs in Win 7)

Cause ideas:

My mobo & CPU are OC'd. FSB & Core clocks. But I can generally run extreme tests for 14+ hours without failures. Its water cooled and I feel, stable. If there were issues with the other clock, which hardware component would the fault occur with? MCP?

Is this a Dx Sound issue? Maybe IRQ issue? How do I test for that? Any thoughts?

I'll update the original thread post with details, but I did cover that in further testing.
