I am looking to build my first PC... Here is what I was looking to purchase:

Case- Sentey Extreme Division GS-6500R Burton Red Tower Case 6x Fan LED/ 4 x USB / Multi Card Reader / 4 x Fan Control / E-SATA / 6 x Removable Aluminum Bays / Screwless

PSU- XFX Core Edition PRO850W (P1-850S-NLB9) 850W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

Motherboard- ASUS Rampage IV Extreme LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard

Processor- Intel Core i7-3820 Sandy Bridge-E 3.6GHz (3.8GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 2011 130W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80619i73820

Memory- G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-14900CL9D-8GBSR

Video Card- XFX Core Edition FX-785A-ZNL4 Radeon HD 7850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

Storage- Crucial M4 CT256M4SSD2 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Storage- Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

Disc Drive- ASUS 24X DVD Burner - Bulk 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+R DL 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM Black SATA Model DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS - OEM

Cooler- CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i Water Cooler

This is just to start me out until I can add these other items as time goes by (and money permits):

Additional Video Card- XFX Core Edition FX-785A-ZNL4 Radeon HD 7850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

Add more Memory- G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-14900CL9D-8GBSR

Add another SSD- Crucial M4 CT256M4SSD2 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Add a Bluray Burner- Pioneer 15X BD-R 2X BD-RE 16X DVD+R 5X DVD-RAM 12X BD-ROM 4MB Cache SATA Blu-ray Burner BDR-2208

Now my questions:
With as many fans as the case has, do I even need the Cooler?
Are these components compatible?
Is this complete overkill?
I'm looking to make this a do-everything computer. My main requirements are (no particular order) for me to be able to game, record while gaming (one ssd for game, one for recorder?), for me to be able to use AutoCAD without it lagging, for me to add a monitor or 2, and eventually for me to use it as a dvr for TV (I know I didn't add a TV tuner but that's the least important right now). Also the reasoning behind the 850W was that XFX recommends at least 550W with ONE of those video cards.

I appreciate the help!!!

What is your budget? I would go for this instead it would be a good all around pc that would also be good for gaming video editing rendering photo/video/3D elect. The high end gaming PC is going to be something that can run everything at 1080P at high to ultra settings. This machine will burn through any game on the market, and will have plenty of room for expansion as well.

I have the Sapphire 7950 3GB and I can recommend the Tahiti GPU series from them as top performers. The Vapor-X cooling system coupled with these cards is great. Sapphire actually sells this cooling system for stock GPU's now but its included with their products; nice bonus.

My responses in bold. This build will do 80-90% of what yours will, for a fraction of the price:
PCPartPicker part list /

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($189.99 @ Microcenter)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.98 @ Outlet PC)
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme6 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($159.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($85.13 @ NCIX US)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($67.99 @ Microcenter)
Storage: Samsung 840 Pro Series 256GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($229.99 @ Adorama)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card ($289.99 @ Newegg)
Case: BitFenix Ghost (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($79.99 @ NCIX US)
Power Supply: OCZ Z Series Gold 850W 80 PLUS Gold Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($109.99 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224BB DVD/CD Writer ($16.98 @ Outlet PC)
Total: $1260.02

You can add a bluray drive if you really want to, but ask yourself how often you'll be using it. That 7950 will be plenty for a single monitor - if it gets slow, overclock it, and if you get two more monitors, buy a second one. You won't need a second SSD - the one you've got is one of the fastest on the market and will have enough room for windows, the games that would actually benefit from being on an SSD, and your recordings, as long as you move them to a data drive afterwords.

The above build is good for gaming but if your thinking about purchasing a processor with a bit more horsepower for video editing or other multi-threaded applications, be sure to take a look at the Intel Core i7 3770K. With its hyper-threading technology, it boasts up to a 30% boost in performance against the i5 3570K in multi-threaded applications. Also the ram in above build is not a good choice with the aftermarket cpu cooler i recommend you get low profile.

Thanks for all the answers so quickly! I'm really grateful for the help... I've heard some horror stories from friends about Corsair, so I'm trying to stay away from that. I also upgraded my current pc with a xfx video card and absolutely love it, so I am actually a little partial there.
As for over clocking, with the i7 I was hoping I wouldn't even need to.
My budget for the initial startup is about $1800, based on all of the items being on newegg. I'm also hoping to "future proof" at least to get a few years out of my first build.
