GTX 680 Screen tearing

So for no apparent resone I started experiencing screen tearing in games and even on the desktop when I move windows around. As the title suggests I have a GTX680, and I also have a i7 3770K and 8GB of RAM.

When I play a game like BF3, I get 60FPS but the games feels choppy sometimes even thought the FPS never dips.

To those of you who know and use OBS, when I use it I still have 60FPS but the screen tearing and choppiness are even worse, but the FPS never drops below 60.

Just to clarify, I have tried V-Sync on/off without any results.

Thanks in advance guys!

This link should explain what is happening, http://www.hardocp.com/article/2012/04/16/nvidia_adapti...
the fix:
The option to turn on Adaptive VSync is located in the NVIDIA control panel. We have version 301.24 of the driver installed on our system. You will find five options in the drop down box. The first option is "Use the 3D application setting." This means is that the in-game VSync option (if one) takes precedent. The off option forces VSync off in all games and the VSync on option forces it on in all games, no matter the in-game setting. The "Adaptive" option is the one you want to use to enable Adaptive VSync. It doesn't matter whether VSync is off or on in your game, this setting overrides in-game control settings. The fifth option Adaptive (half refresh rate) will probably rarely be used. This will basically lock your refresh rate at 30 Hz, or 30 FPS, and most gamers don't want. Using the "Adaptive" option is our preferred option.

have you applied an overclock? do you have the latest drivers?
here are some links that may help optimize your system to get the best out of your rig.
optimize system by game
Tweak your os

i play a good amount of bf3 and i know mine does the same thing. it seems smooth but the best thing i would do is grab msi afterburner and check your temps and maybe do a slight overclock and see if it helps. also play around with nvidia control. like make sure if your using only one monitor to set it to single display performance mode as well as just performance mode under power i believe. also set pre rendered frames to 2. bunch over other things under there that will help but i cant recall all of them

one problem with vsync even though i play with it is the delay between frames which for me is about 30ms @ 75fps
in diablo 3 with no vsync its 8ms constant

Try reading this http://www.geforce.com/Optimize/Guides/battlefield-3-tw... also triple buffering only works in OpenGL games and may introduce visual glitches and controller lag. I always leave it set to 'off'.

You mentioned you try V-Sync how about trying to use Adaptive VSync. There is absolutely no reason at all to use regular VSync with an Nvidia card.

It seems most of you are suggesting I try this Nvidia adaptive sync so on top of trying it, I will do a little research a learn about it. Adaptive sync sounds like a feature I should know about.

To answer your question "he great randini", I OC my i7 but not my 680.

sounds like adjusting the adaptive vsync will take care of the issue.

post a picture of your nvidia settings as well as what driver version you have. have you tried updating to the beta driver and doing a full install rather than the upgrade?

try setting under programs for bf3 where it says multiple display performance to single disp performance as well as power mode to performance and pre rendered frames to 2. one other thing is do you happen to know your CPU temps during gaming? It could be running to hot and throttling back causing this as well

My CPU temps are low, and this screen tearing happens in all of my games and on my desktop, so changing it only for bf3 wont solve the problem right?

Well at this point.I think you have a faulty card.Honestly there no other reason possible that i can think of why that would be be happening in all games.

Crank up your settings. You are getting screen tearing from too many FPS. Since you've had no luck with VSync, the next remedy to try is to turn on FXAA, Antialiasing, Transparency Antialiasing, High Quality texture filtering, Ambient Occlusion (quality), etc. Make sure you do it on the Program Settings tab for the game you are playing. Be sure to use Single Display mode.

There could be something wrong with the cable between your video card and monitor. You should not have tearing at the desktop under any situation.
