So my rig has been decided on and I'm left with the choice of a monitor.

Needs and Wants:

- Around $130

- 5ms Response time (for gaming)

- Contrast Ratio - around 50,000,000:1 (I know the Hanns-G is only 30,000,000...thats why I'm comparing the 2)

- 1920 x 1080

- The bigger the better! Minimum 21.6"

- Well known name brand (quality, of course  )

And now the two monitors I'm deciding between (Still open to suggestions!)

#1 - Hanns-G HL249DPB Black 23.6" 5ms Widescreen LED Backlight LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 Active Contrast 30,000,000:1 (1000:1)

#2 - ASUS VS Series VS228H-P Black 21.5" 5ms HDMI LED Backlight Widescreen LCD Monitor 250 cd/m2 50000000:1 (ASCR)

Thanks!

a 5ms cycle equates to 200fps. It is probably not a good selection criteria.
I am not so certain that contrast ratio is either.

I do think that buying a great monitor is a good idea.
It is one of the better future proof pc purchases you can make today.
I like the IPS unit that mouse24 suggested.
A ips monitor will have a 178/178 viewing angle compared to 170/160.
That means that your display will not look washed out when you are not looking at it straight on.
