hey guys,

as stated in the subject, I do not plan on overclocking my system at all just use it as stock.. please see the following specs:

Intel I5 3570 (non-k)
->>> ASUS P8Z77-LK Motherboard
Corsair 600W PSU
1TB WD Caviar Blue HD
Samsung DVD-Writer
MSI Radeon 7770 HD 1GB GPU
etc.

*** MAIN QUESTION: is it worth keeping my P8Z77-LK mobo which cost me $125 or should I get a H77/B75 mobo that will be cheaper

People say that if I do not plan on OVERCLOCKING at all then there's no use of Z77 mobo?

Thanks

The people you are talking to are correct. A less expensive B75 motherboard will do.
Here is a nice chart that explains the differences:

Still, I might opt for the 3570K and a z77 motherboard.
Even if you do not OC initially, you might want to keep the option open.
A 5% increase in the cost of the "K" can yield you a 25% improvement in performance down the road.
If you ever later sell the cpu, a "K" will get you back much more.

thanks guys, yeah the difference between the K and non K here in canada right now is pretty large.

I got my CPU for $190 whereas the 3570K is for $230 haha. I don't have any large intentions for gaming, just music production.

Although i have done a few researching.. The H77 is better than the B75?

Since we got the Z77 out of the way.. I'm now left with the following:

(Most Likely go with ASUS)

Z75
B75-V
H77-V

Thinking the winner will be the H77..

You might as well pick the less expensive B75 variant.
It does not support raid which you probably should not use, and it only has one 6gb sata port.
If you use a ssd for the os(highly recommended) it should go on the 6gb port. Past that, hard drives can go anywhere.

A b75 board will do if you don't need the ssd caching nor more than one sata III port(or intend do do a raid setup).
If you do need more than a one sata III port(with raid support) and ssd caching, get the H77 motherboard, it has all the features that you'll need, if this is for gaming, i recommend spending more on the gpu for a 7850/7870.
I also recommend the xfx 550 core edition for the psu, you can see it here : http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1550sxxb9
You can check for parts here : http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/
Here's a good b75 : http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-b75map45
And for h77 : http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-h77mag43
