Okay, open the command prompt
Start (windows button) -> type in prompt (run box) cmd -> ipconfig

That will give you your IPv4 address, your subnet mask, and local gateway.

You want your local gateway to match the router you are using. If you have wireless, it's usually 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 but it's easily changed to a 10.x.x.x or 172.16.x.x or 192.168.x.x address

What do you mean it don't want to work? It's not a human, it does not have any feelings about working or not if it feels like it, you need to provide details about the issue. If you don't have internet connections, did you before? What changed? What have you tried already? Reboot the router? Reboot the PC? Check your ip setup with the ipconfig command at a dos prompt, do you have the right IP to match your settings? Do you have the right Proxy server settings in your browser? It's usually set to none.
