Hi everyone been working at this all day and can't figure it out. I'm upgrading my old PC (had 1gig video card, intel i3 2120, 430w corsair PSU, 8 gig ram, and an Elitegroup P67H2-A2 Mobo)

I installed a new PSU (upgrade to a 750w seasonic PSU modular and an intel i5 3570k) I installed both and my PC would not start, all the components would start up, MOBO, PSU, GFX card, but shortly turn off within 3-5 seconds. I tried hooking up my old PSU to the mobo, etc. to try to rule out my PSU and ended up getting the same 3-5 seconds then shutdown again. I carefully took my i3 processor out and dropped an i5 in its place(no bent pins, etc.) so I'm wondering if it is the processor or my mobo that crapped out. The mobo is a decent mobo and worked fine for the 11 or so months I had it, I am always good about discharging static electricity. I went through most of the troubleshooting on this site, taking the battery out of my mobo for about 3-5 minutes, removing a stick of ram and then switching them.

I Should also mention, RARELY but it's actually booted up a few times after a couple tries. BUT nothing shows up on my screen so I can't even tell if it's booting to desktop. :( I tried to upgrade a few parts today and it's way more trouble than I hoped, i've been stuck all day trying to figure this out.

EDIT: Testing now, but I may be able to save myself 140 dollars with this Mobo bios update http://www.ecs.com.tw/extra/22nmcpu/index.html

Shoot, I was actually looking at that a minute ago. Even though my motherboard says it supports all 2nd gen intel processors, I thought the i5 was 2nd gen? So I put in a support ticket at ECS, I doubt they will do anything to help me than say it's not compatible. This really sucks man, now i gotta fork out another 150 for a decent mobo

Sorry I could not give you better news. You should be able to get a pretty good Gigabyte or Asus Z77 board for less than $150. ASRock is worth looking at as well.
