So I'm almost 100% sure that I'm purchasing the fx 8350 sometime soon. I do a lot of gaming but also a lot of video editing and would love to have the extra cores due to the multitasking. However, I'm concerned about paying dramatically more for power bills per month. Should I be concerned about this? How much more would I pay for energy bills with the fx 8350 as opposed to an i5-3570k for example?

No. the 8350 draws 100+ more watts than an intel processor and the gap widens if you overclock it , which mostly every1 will

^^ this is why.

Everyone overinflates the numbers to the absolute maximum power draw and pretend that your editing will be doing that much draw 24/7 even when the computer is shut off. Toms has a different approach to testing power draw, total power used doing x work. This is where its 50-60watts during a ~1 hr test run depending on how fast the cpu finished the task.
