my specs:3770k at 3.65ghz,8gb ram @1600mhz,mobo-p8h77-m,psu 700watts,gpu 7970 sappire dual x oc edition.
i want to crossfire a 7950 with 7970,but ive only one x16 lane(pci 3.0)
where 7970 is already installed, and one pci 2.0 in x4 mode, ive seen people cross firing between x8 &x8 ,x16 &x16(usally done on high end boards),but on current state i cant aford a new mobo ;i can only get a 7950 and a 850 watt psu,
so for time being untill i get a new mobo of z77 series can i use the above crossfire.
i know there will be bottleneck issues and also micro stuttering.will it be that bad?

Solution
why don't you buy the z77 motherboard and then crossfire the two cards?
it's bad enough you'll crossfire on a motherboard whose chipset doesn't allow x8+x8 crossfire. it's worse that the mobo is a smaller, mainstream microatx motherboard. two 7970 class cards with dual cooling fans(i'm assuming) on a cramped microatx mobo can cause heat issues for both cards. the second card can easily block motherboard headers and may be the sata ports at the bottom. then comes possible stuttering from lack of bandwidth of the 2nd card.
how bad, you'll know when you put them together.
