HD 7970 (non-OC) vs gtx 680

Hey guys, I've almost done deciding on my components for my gaming pc. What kills my mind is that whether I should get a HD 7970 or a gtx 680?? I do not want to OC my gpu, I want to use it at stock speeds for now. I mostly play games like crysis 2&3, farcry 3, Battlefield 3 especially!!! and all the other new games in the following years. I know that the Hd 7970 when Overclocked beats the gtx 680, however as i said I do NOT want to OC my gpu. So what's a better option HD 7970 (at stock speeds) or a gtx 680?? here are my specs:

i5 3570k
Asrock z77 pro/mvp motherboard
8 GB corsair vengeance (4GB x2)
corsair 650w PSU

In general, the 7970 GHz edition has a slight edge over the GTX 680 but not by much. Check out this comparison: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/618?vs=555

i think a 670 or a 7970 would be the best option (it'll save you about 100$ for 5% less performance than the 680 and game will still be playable by a large margin)

@spawnkiller, the problem is the price of a 670 is close to a 680 and a 7970!! I dont know why but i really like the 680 for some reason.

go for the nvidia since you like it more. It is a bit more efficient then the 7970 and the vsync works better

@ christiangordon, now i'm confused cause everybody here at tom's hardware favor the 7970 over the 680. Also, people say that the 7970 performs better at higher resolution but I am only gonna play at 1680 x 1080. And also what on earth is 5760 x 1200??

5760 x 1200 is if you are using multiple monitors on one setup.

It all comes down to what you prefer. Yes the AMD 7970 performs better but is the performance difference noticeable... no.
