Adding a second hhd to Acer notebook

I purchased a new Western Digital 2.5" 500gig advanced format hard drive, model WD5000BPKT for my empty second hard drive bay in my Aspire 8930 notebook. The hard drive is formatted and works properly in a sata external case using usb and plugged into the notebook. All seems correct and good till I remove the hard drive from the external case and install it in the second open bay in my Aspire notebook. My notebook doesn't see it at all. Not even in Bios. Is there any answers out there that can help with this issue? Thank you.

I can't find anywhere that says that model accepts two hard drives.

I never added a secondary drive to a laptop. But did you check every BIOS options? You might have to enable it somewhere. Check your laptop manual. Also did you upgrade your BIOS to latest version?

If you still can't make it work I would check Acer website for official instructions on how to add the secondary drive, maybe it accepts only certain model, or if you can't find the info on their website, I would contact their technical support and open a ticket with them.

Thanx MC_k7, I do believe my notebook bios is up to date from what I read but this was about 4 months back. I will check again.

Thanks for the reply. I do have two hhd drive bays. Its one of the main reasons I purchased this particular notebook among others. I can remove the original 500gig Seagate and move it to the other hhd bay and everything still boots up fine. The new WD hhd works fine via a usb external sata case when connected to the same notebook but isn't recognized in either internal hhd bay of the notebook. Very strange stuff.
