I had a Hp Pavillion 1tb 8gb ram pc. But wanted to upgrade, So I bought an apevia x dreamer 4 case, 1080 watt power supply ,and a Pny Geforce GTX 650. I transferred and pieced all of it together in the new case. The graphics card I chose has 2 DVI ports. But neither of my monitors use DVI. So I used the DVI to VGA adapter that came with the graphics card. When I boot up the computer it boots up fine but The monitor disconnects from the computer at random times even though my connections are tight. To get the monitor to display anything after this happens I have to restart the whole computer itself. This was my original problem which I have found a solution to. But at one point my brother flipped my power supply switch which made it to where my power switch on my case stopped working. But I got that fixed and when I booted up my PC it said there was a problem starting up windows. When I choose the repair option it returns to the boot screen. And when I choose the start windows normally option it somewhat loaded windows but never made it to the log in screen and then the monitor disconnected once again. As I haven't fixed the problem at this time. Any solutions on this problem.

Did I read that well? You got a 1080-Watt PSU??? Why so much power??? I guess this is a typo, but if not you need only 1/3 of this power for a GeForce 650. You definitely overspent if this is true.

As for your current problem, did you try to boot in safe mode and use system restore and go back to a date before you had these problems?

Looks to me that you have driver loading issues. Do you have onboard video card?
You SHOULD run STARTUP REPAIR from your Windows DVD (if you are using WiN 7 or 8) because windows will not star otherwise. Obviously you something got messed during power off.

Try using onboard video to start windows after repair and then use your GTX 650 again.

Before trying all this I would simply boot in safe mode and try a system restore instead.

Well my Great Grandfather is 93 and a huge IT master. He has warehouse full of computer parts anything I would need. But he hadn't stocked up on any 400w psu but he had 4 boxes of 1080w so he just gave me one of them. So I didn't have to pay for any of the pieces I got other than my case which somebody asked if it was pink and its black with green leds and side window. But I believe I may have damaged a piece with static electricity. And since my motherboard is not very good anyway and my processor is a little low for current standards he is sending me all up to date parts. So he is going to help me fix the problem thanks for all the help guys. I tried all of the sollutions you suggested and the built in Radeon HD4200 does the same as my GTX 650 so thats the only conclusion I can come to is I may have damaged a piece. Thank you once again.
