Hey guys I just built a new computer about a week ago and every now and then the screen goes black for a second and then everything is back to normal. I'm currently using a HDMI plugged into the video card to connect it to my monitor is it possible that the cord is bad?

Power Supply: Thermaltake TR-700 700W
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K
GPU: gtx 660 ti superclocked
HDD: WD Blue WD10EZEX 1TB Desktop Hard Drive
OS: Windows 8 64-bit
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB PC12800 DDR3
MOBO: MSI Z77A-G45 Socket 1155 Motherboard - ATX, Socket 1155, Intel Z77 Chipset, DDR3 2800 MHz (O.C.), SATA III (6Gb/s), RAID, 8-CH Audio, Gigabit LAN, USB 3.0, PCIe 3.0

Any help is much appreciated.

Does the screen blacking happen during anything specific? I noticed that when switching users, startup and some tasks that switch to full screen the hdmi connection creates a delay. I had an amd gpu that would take several minutes to come back on with the hdmi connection and amd requested me to send it back for an rma I now have the 660ti and there is a slight delay on these tasks still but only 30 seconds or so. I would try contacting the manufacturer since it is most likely the card causing it.

The only three things it could be are: 1. The monitor, 2. The monitor cord (not screwed in on monitor or OC side), or 3. The GPU is going out.

Based on the fact that its going completely black I'd say #2 or 3. But I'd check all three.
