You should give us your full system specs and a price range to work with and we could help you out. The prices aren't likely coming down in a while, the new GPUs might be out late this year or early 2014 but nobody knows exactly when at this time.

reccomended updgrade will be hd 7850 2gb or gtx 660 2gb or hd 7870 2gb if it it is in your budget.these 3 perform decent at 1080p.

Yeah, I'd recommend you an Nvidia card as well, unless you want to go to the trouble of wiping Nvidia drivers from your system.
