Well if the hard disk is connected without the case on it, the system boots.
but when the hard disk case is fitted to the hard disk and we connect the drive, the system gives error saying reseat the drive. please help what is the issue.
Dell Vostro 1015

Please explain the connection in more DETAIL.

What "case" are you referring to?
Why are you booting from an external drive?

If you can boot with the hard drive connected then both the drive and laptop are fine. Your problem appears related to this "case" you refer to.

hi,
I refer to the internal hard disk, as you know there is a metal case on it. Once I got the error that reseat the internal hard disk, we removed the inside hard drive and checked, latter removed the outer case and then connected the drive, it booted fine. but as we fitted back the case, same error started to appear. So why this issue.

I have the same problem but i didn't try to get the hdd out of the metal case.
My solutions that i discovered by misstake is to set in bios booting THROUGHT , not AUTO or MINIMAL. Will take more time to start laptop but it's working. I have a dell studio 1535
