and for hotspot kept next to my laptop i m getting two three signals but on another laptop is is showing four two five tower
i think my wifi strenghth has become weaker... plz provide me a solution

take the battery and power off the laptop..flip it over and open the bottom of the case where the wifi card is connected.check that the cable wire for the ant are connected and reseat the card. if the card still having issues i look into replacing it. (before you replace it see the chipset vendor of the wifi card and try there newest drivers to see if they work better then dells).

It sounds like the wi-fi device is defective as the first guy implies or has a loose antennae.

If it's possible you could try SWITCHING them between laptops but I don't think that's easy to do.

If you absolutely need a better wi-fi receiver you could buy a USB version, though again these vary in quality.

I think you can change the POWER PROFILE but that this only affects transmission, not reception. I find it unlikely that the device is half-broken (works but degraded). It's hard to troubleshoot over the internet though.

Troubleshooting:
*Burn an UBUNTU LIVE disc and try booting each machine with it then setup and test the Wi-Fi. Since the software situation would be IDENTICAL this can help troubleshooting:
a) If both laptops perform the SAME with Ubuntu then you have a software/setting issue in Windows to correct
b) If both laptops are still DIFFERENT then it's a hardware issue. In this case either the Wi-Fi component is either performing properly (may not be the same quality as the other one) or its defective (damage, grounded, or an antennae is unhooked).
