I'm looking for a modest multifunction printer/scanner that'll do duplex multipage scanning, and will scan to a network location via ethernet.
We're looking to thin down the amount of paperwork we're hoarding at home, so everything from pension statements to ikea instruction manual will be scanned and shredded (the most important stuff like insurance policy documents will be retained).
I'd like to make this process as painless as possible, so I'm hoping that it's simply a case of dropping the offending phone bill into the sheet feeder, push a button or two and it's scanned (both sides if required) to a folder on the file-server I've set up. No need to flip and re-scan, start up a pc to manage the process or anything like that.
My shortlist so far:
Canon PIXMA MX895
HP Officejet Pro 8600 plus
Both seem to be in the similar price range, which is probably my maximum - I suggested to the missus this exercise would cost half as much, before I did any research
On paper both seem to offer the hardware capability, however the scanning to a network location looks a little harder to quantify on the Canon, I prefer the look and size of the Canon to the HP.
Anyone had any experience with either of the above?
Can anyone suggest any other alternatives that would match my critera?
