Internet Speeds slow in Austria?

My Internet speeds are 500kb down and about 150kb up. I use Telekom, and they said this is the fastest internet they have. My friend for example can download a 6GB file in 30 minutes, i need like 4 hours or something. Do i need an other Ethernet cable, or is my Internet provider bad?

If your internet provider says that's their fastest speed that's it. There is nothing you can do to improve it. Your only option is to get a provider that offers faster internet, if there is one.

available speeds can vary drastically depending on where you live and the country. In the US you can get gigabit in some cities and a few miles outside there's nothing but dialup.

Do a test on speedtest.net to see what your getting.
BTW 500 kb/s is pretty slow, fast internet in America is at least 10 mbps for about 50 $ / month
High speed internet has to be at least 5 mbps or is considered intermediate.

I can't find your internet service provider as telekom only thing close is apex telecom

on there, if you got Direct((ADSL2+))
Plans Gigante 1000 GB 512 kbps $ 159.95 Signup ==> your are getting shated, yes you got 1000 gb download but 512 kbps is really slow and in if you download 24/7 for a month, I doubt you can even reach 1000 gb

For $150 you should have at least 50 mbps
