I have a gigabyte 990fxa ud3 mobo (ver 1.1) and I need to update it so I can use my new amd 8350.
I've been running in to many problems, and after about 8 hours of trial and error, I now know I need help.

Here's my issues:
I can't install @Bios because the setup gives me an error with the DLL they give me. (error 0x80040707 to be exact; 'DLL function call crash')
Next thing is to try to use ASUS EZ flash 2, however gigabyte doesn't offer .rom/.bin files so I cant use it to update my mobo.
I can't make a DOS USB work either, because once it starts to run the programs from Gigabyte's site, it gives me a error with memory saying 'there isnt enough extended memory'

Furhter info:
I am on Win 7 64-bit OS and have ran all things as Admin/normal-user.
I don't have the original CD anymore.

My Question:
Is there anyway else to update my BIOS? It sucks having a new processor watching you all because of an update.

most mb have a built in rom/cap flasher. all you need to do is unzip the rom file put it on a usb stick and your hard drive. at post it be the f6 key to go into it or go into the bios and then under advance mode you see the rom flasher that built into the mb. most rom flasher programs are dos based and are made to run from a bottable floppy or usb stick.

Like i've said, gigabyte DOESN'T offer .rom files for their downloads, only a utility, bios file, and autoexec.bat meaning i need the DOS usb.
I've tried the usb and it gave me the not enough 'extended memory' error.

You should be using Q-Flash to update the system BIOS without having to enter the OS like MS-DOS or Windows first.

Your USB flash drive must be formatted using FAT32 or FAT16 or FAT12 file system. NTFS will not work.

Copy the extracted 9FXAUD33.FC file to the USB flash drive. This is the ROM image file.

Restart the system. During the POST, press the <End> key to enter Q-Flash. Note: You can access Q-Flash by either pressing the <End> key during the POST or pressing the <F8> key in BIOS Setup.

Insert the USB flash drive containing the BIOS file into the computer. In the main menu of Q-Flash, select
Update BIOS From Drive.

Select USB Flash Drive.

Select the BIOS update file. Make sure the BIOS update file matches your motherboard model.

The process of the system reading the BIOS file from the USB flash drive is displayed on the screen. When the message "Are you sure to update BIOS?" appears, select Yes to begin the BIOS update. The monitor will display the update process.
Do not turn off or restart the system when the system is reading/updating the BIOS.
Do not remove the USB flash drive or hard drive when the system is updating the BIOS.

When the update process has completed, select Reboot to reboot the system.

During the POST, press <Delete> to enter BIOS Setup. Select Load Optimized Defaults on the Save & Exit screen and press <Enter> to load BIOS defaults. System will re-detect all peripheral devices after a BIOS update, so it is recommend that you reload BIOS defaults.

Select Save & Exit Setup and press <Enter>. And then select Yes to save settings to CMOS and exit BIOS Setup. The procedure is complete after the system restarts.

Many problems might not be a bios problem, it could be ram PSU, video card or the sata ports.

What is your make/model of PSU, Video card, ram (speed, volume, voltage), type of hdd (SSD, Sata, Pata) and whether you have a cd/dvd drive. 15 all in one sd card drive, sound card, etc...

I'd hazard a guess and say that your PSU is under-powered for this rig.
