Right-Click 'My Computer' and select Manage. Click "Device Manager".

Expand 'Sound Video and game controllers', "right-click" all Sound devices and select "uninstall".

Then reboot, if this was a Windows provided driver, then your PC should reinstall it the next time you log back in. If it requires the driver from the manufacturer you will be prompted to provide it.

Firstly, go to Sound in the Control Panel and Disable all sound but your card (sdisable digital output too as that for SPDIF) then restart and test.

If that does not work:
Go to your audio card in Device manager and tell me what 'driver service added' events are in the Events Tab, I need to know the name of the services that your sound relies on.
