Hello everyone. I've been experiencing some pretty horrible coil whine from my PSU whenever my graphics card ramps up. I've heard things about a possible fix involving hot glue or something similar. Does anyone know exactly how I would go about this and if it's likely to damage my PSU and/or system

OK thanks guys. Any recommendations as to PSUs with a smaller reputation for this kind of thing? I understand it can be a bit hit or miss but are there any models you have heard of that have a reputation for being coil whine free? I'm looking for about 750w.

A PSU from a quality manufacturer shouldn't have coil whine, Corsair, Antec, XFX, etc... I am fairly sure the capacitors in most if not all PSU's hold a charge high enough to seriously injure or even kill you, it is best not to mess with the internals unless you know what your doing electrically.

My Antec TPQ-850W got replaced because of that crappy whine from time to time, you can experience it in any high end PSU.
For those specs you don't need more than a 650W PSU, 750W for future SLI/CF setups.
Corsair HX 750W, Seasonic 750W, NXZT, Silverstone or Silencer PSUs are top end ones.

Ok thanks everyone. Has anyone on here had any experience with the Silverstone Strider Plus series? They claim on their product page to have some sort of capacitors on the PCI-E plugs in an effort to avoid coil whine. What are your views on this?
