Recently I have needed to start overclocking to keep up with certain applications etc..

so i had sucessfully OC'ed my 1055t 2.8ghz to 3.5ghz while keeping the ram in check etc.. it was all going well and stable was perfectly fine great temps etc

Than i got greedy and wanted that marginal better performance so i decided to go up another .3ghz and in doing so is required my ram to go up past its speeds, so i did that and then while running my applications i got a blue screen about ram buffer failure or something along those lines, which required me to Reset my bios with the cmos, so i boot back up with stock settings and decide well ok i guess ill stick with 3.5. But when i try to boot up with an overclock after changing the settings in bios, my comp will idle while turned on, i will not get responses from the computer although everything has turned on.

system specs

phenom II x6 1055t
8gb Kingston 1333mhz ram
MSI 970A-G45 mobo
MSI twin frozr III 6950 2gb
and a supposibly 750w psu

another issue that i have had pror to OCing was if i tried powering on my computer from a cold boot ( 3-4+ hours of time off ), I would get the same problem where there is no response from the computer but the GPU fan would be spinning very loudly, so to get it to boot , i would leave the computer on while the gpu is roaring at like max speed, for about 10-15 minutes and than i would turn off and turn on about 4-5 times and then i would get the computer to start to boot. rebooting the computer multiple times where it hasn't "warmed up" would lead to no success in starting it.

Solution
sounds like a psu problem as it seems you have a bog standard one and not a branded psu like coursair , xfx as the boot up problem is the tell tail sign of the psu being the problem :)

should do as it will supply the right voltage on your +12v rail as you are overclocking the system power consumption increases and your psu cant handle it and is starting to fail. so you would need in the region of 600 to 700 watt psu and it might be overkill but think of future upgrades get one with 50 - 60 amps on the +12v :) p.s dont cheap out on it !
