help with gigabyte 7870

so hello guys i just bought my card gigabyte radeon 7870. i installed it but i could get no picture on screen!! i read here about deactiveting the onboard graphics but when i have the 7870 on the pc i get no picture at all either the card or the onboard card. its like the one blocking the other???
can you help me with this please?
my system is:
i5 3470
gigabyte h77-ds3h
xfx550 psu

are the 2 6 pin connectors connected to the gpu

yes they are the fans are normally working.
and my monitor is a hd ready tv if it matters...

is whatever you are using to display with connected to the gpu and not the motherboard?. have you deactivated the igpu before adding in the gpu?

no i havent deactivated the igpu.whats the proper order for that? first i deactivate it and then install the 7870?

generally, thats usually what deactivating igpu tends to be. if in the end the gpu doesnt work, reactivate the igpu by cmos reseting without the gpu inserted.
