is there a virus that corrupts dvr drivers

Last week my dvr drive stopped working. It says that the driver is missing or corrupted. I've tried updating it, replacing the physical drive, change all chords, and since I didn't have another SATA port available I've tried a portable dvr on a usb port. Upon "installation" of the new driver, the portable dvr did not work either. I've also scanned for viruses.

Could this be a bios virus?

Thanks.

I've never heard of a virus that does that, and I don't think they do exist because of the tiny amount of victims that could be affected. It is most likely a file corruption because of an interrupt of power or a glitch in the software.

I kind of thought that already, thanks though. Any suggestions on where I should go from here. I haven't dug out my windows disk and tried the repair option, but short of flashing the bios that's all I can think of.
