Using Windows Vista, I accidentally did something on my laptop using the cursor that made the bottom black space triple in size. How do I get that black band at the bottom of the screen to go back to its normal size? Everything else is the same size- no change to the icons. Right clicking doesn't seem to reveal any route to a solution.

What is this black band? Are you talking about the task bar?

If you hit the Print Screen button on the keyboard then open paint, you can past and save the image(and post it here) for us to see.

If it happens to task bar, you can just grab it by the edge on the top and drag it back down to its proper location. If that fixes it, right click it after and select "Lock the taskbar so it can not be moved or changed by mistake again"

Thank you nukemaster. That worked perfectly. I did try that yesterday and the thing wouldn't budge. But today, following your suggestion it worked. Thank you!

Remember to lock it(by right clicking in any section that does not have an icon or program on it) so it will stay put from now on.
