Thank you for the answers.

I tried most of the procedures in vain; the PC has not much stored data, after I reinstalled widows several times (Pakardbell has an auto widow restoration). But there days thePC asks me for scheduling chkdsk which I do not understand, nor know how to do it.

After connecting internet for some two days, the PC now tries put later fails to configure windows updates, that it down loads in hundreds for hours. It shows the folowing wording : ''Failure configuring windows updates; Reverting changes. Do not turn off your computer''.

What if it is a Hard ware issue, what shaould I do?

Please advise further.

Sounds like a hard drive going bad. To run a chkdsk (which should tell you if it is a failing hard drive) go to > start > Programs > accessories > Command Promt (right click, run as admin) type in chkdsk /r and hit enter.

I'm almost certain you will need a new hard drive though.

Ah, what part of boot does it get stuck at? The splash screen (its usually some random picture) the POST (this should have information on it), random blinking cursor, or windows type screen? That will also help us.

Uh, depending on where it gets stuck at its probably faster to run CHKDSK from a CD/DVD and not the HDD. I'm fairly certain Hirens Boot CD has something like this on it. http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/

Download that, unrar it, burn it to CD (I use imgburn as its the most straight forward, simply choose write ISO (might just be called files, I forget) to disk, change the write speed from whatever to 4x then wait for it to finish)

This is assuming you have another pc that can burn cd/dvds and have a blank cd/dvds handy. It can also be put onto a USB drive but that requires alot more finagling.
