I was wondering if anybody could help me. I have been looking to build a computer for some time now, and finally have the money to build it. I would appreciate it if anybody could give my selections the once over and check that everything will work okay. The components are as follows:
Intel Core i5 3330 / i3 3220 (which would you recommend remembering that money is an issue)
Asus P8H61-MX R2.0
4GB 1333MHz Crucial Memory
Corsair 600W CX builder series
Seagate 1TB Barracuda
Gigabyte GTX 650 2GB
Corsair Carbide 200R
and Windows 8 64 bit OEM
Thermal Paste and SATA cables

if the money is there to get an i5 i would say you may aswell get one, and if you can step your RAM up to 8Gb of 2x4gb density, this will help future proof your pc (try and get 1600mhz it seems to be the best price/ speed at the moment) more bang for your buck.

check out your power usage stats on a wattage calculator :http://www.thermaltake.outervision.com/
im not going to work it out for you, but you may need a higher wattage if you plan on doing anything else..

That MOBO seems like it needs reconsidering to be honest, with a setup that expensive you could definately do with a better one. Checkout the latest motherboard reviews for the intel series on here for a start.

if youre looking to eek out a lil more performance i would suggest checking out the Ti version of your GPU or delving into the GPU section of tomshardware a little bit more as this is one of the easiest places to loose money on or become dissapointed in the system!

You didn't mention what games you're interested in playing. That said, beginning last year even FPS are leaning harder on the CPU. So I would definitely go with the quad core (i5). More so if you are into play RTS's.

Its sort of funny I was doing a dry run on a computer that I told my son's friend I would build for him. I was going on a kid's budget and I have in the shopping cart the same CPU (i5-3330), same motherboard and same PSU as you've picked. I had picked a Zalman Z9 case, and a 2 X 4GB Corsair Vengeance kit, and a WD Blue 1TB HDD. Also had a bit better cooler picked (Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO). No discrete graphics card. Figured he want to get as much system as he could afford and use integrated graphics until he could afford to get a graphics card later. I even chose Windows 8 over 7 since he's a Mac kid. I goon him over the Mac bit, but Jaiden's got a pretty good sense of humor so he doesn't take it too hard.

I'm interested in playing things like assassin's creed and the like on perhaps medium settings. A computer that could also run games like BF3 well would be good, but to be honest these types of games are less interesting to me.

I would like to spend less than £600 on this computer ($900). There is a 20% tax on computer parts in the UK so that gets me quite a lot less far than it could.

I checked that motherboard and it seems like a decent motherboard. I'm more of a ASUS guy, though to be honest I don't have any experience with MSI. My experience with GigaByte has been bad.

Since this is a kind of a mid entry level system, I'd shoot for a micro-ATX board.
