I use a Macbook pro early 2011 with intel core I5 processor 2.3ghz and i have a 2tb Trekstor Data Station maxi light external hard drive, this hard drive was formatted in NTFS format with aprox 1,7gb of data. I then wanted to create another partition with the free space in order to use it for my Time Machine backup copy, i was searching the web for some application that would aloud me to create a new partition without loosing all the data from the other NTFS partition.

I came across Ipartition for Mac Os system, that said in their website that it alouds to create, resize without erasing data located on other partitions, so i used it and it did worked, i manage to create a new partition formatted in Mac Os Journaled that will work with Time Machine, but then i plugged in my hard drive and found out that on the NTFS partition with my data, a folder with all my application was gone, probably as it said somewhere in the Ipartition help menu, it said that when it created another partition it doesn't delete the data on the other partition, but it shrinks the size of that partition without loosing data.

Anyways, since my apps folder was gone, i thought of deleting the Mac Os Journaled partition i created, then resize with the same software in order to get back all the available space i had before in it, i followed all the steps from Ipartition and clicked GO, the process took around 3 days since the big amount of data but at the end of the process the app freeze and there was no way out, so i force closed it, and after i plugged again my drive i get a message saying "THIS COMPUTER DOSEN'T RECOGNIZE THE DRIVE" same message when connected to WINDOWS "THE DRIVE NEEDS TO BE FORMATTED" of course i didn't formatted as i know that if i do i will loose all the data in it, i scan with other windows software and i can see that the data still inside the drive, i found another program on the web called "TEST DISK" and when scanned it says that the drive has lost the MBR or BOOT SECTOR and also when do a deep search only found 120gb, on windows it shows one volume of 120gb, and two unallocated volumes, but i know that all the info is there, in the very last case that i will need to recover my lost data, is there any software either for mac or windows that will recover data but keeping the original file name and folder name from the hard drive???

CAN ANYBODY HELP ME!!!

I've never heard of any program that lets you partition a drive with data on it. Formatting is usually a part of all partition programs. There is fragmentation that occurs in all read/write operations of a drive, and partitioning does not work in a linear way on mechanical drives. Trying to partition without doing a formatting can lead to problems like the one you have. Sounds like whatever program you were using intruded on a part of the drive it shouldn't have, moved/deleted what was supposed to be there, and now most OS and programs can't find those necessary files. If you're lucky you'll be able to find a program that will let you pull your personal data off and save it somewhere else. Otherwise, you may have no choice but to reformat the entire drive like the OS wants. After the formatting you should be able to partition like normal, it's just that anything that was on the drive will have been lost after the formatting. Next time it would be best to back-up your data before attempting stuff like this.
