Hello.
My Win 7 (Pro) was shut down all of a sudden and a blue screen appeared.

I had installed few updates yesterday --

1-Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2807986)

2-Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2791765)

3-Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 9 for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2809289)

4-Security Update for Microsoft Silverlight (KB2814124)

5- Security Update for Microsoft Filter Pack 2.0 (KB2553501) 32-Bit Edition

In addition to that, when i analyzed the dump file, these were the results:

I am afraid because i have lost my old laptop just because of these crashes. I don't want to lose this one. Plz help me get out this prob.

PS: I was neither running any video nor doing any task which was new or unusual.

PS: No,i've not run disk check or anything yet because i want to make sure what i really need to run at first. I don't know as i couldn't learn anything myself from the dump file analysis.

Thanks.

Yes,i do that too.
I also run HP support Assistant weekly. I also run chkdsk 2 times a month. sfc/scannow as well.
I do everything to prevent any prob..But still i got that blue error and this is what makes me nervous and worried.

I was having instability issues after Updating as well. I did a system restore and installed the updates one at a time to find the culprit. For me it was the Silverlight update you might give it a shot.

After analyzing the dump files, Microsoft support told me that the prob was caused by my Avast Anti-virus. They advised me to remove it and start using MSE. So i contacted Avast support, now waiting for their reply.

I am facing prob logging in to this site. The only way works for me is to start a new thread. Once i go through the new thread, the page 'Already one of us' works fine..otherwise the log in window doesn't work. someone plz guide .

I had the same or similar problem after installing updates to Win7 (Pro) on 3/15/13. While using IE9, there was a quick screen flash (suddenly went dark, then came back) upon loading one fo the Yahoo entertainment pages. Then some programs wouldn't load. While doing a Norton full scan, I got the BSOD. A reboot seemed to fix things, but it could happen again. Might've been related to the Silverlight update (KB2814124) as suggested by another responder. Since the BSOD, I have run both Norton and Malwarebytes without finding anything. I think that this is a case where a Microsoft update (not exactly sure which one) was faulty, meaning that Microsoft will probably be issuing an update to an update. Before my attention was called to the Silverlight update, the Cumulative Security Update for IE9 for x64 (KB2809289) was my chief suspect. The Silverlight update appears to be removable under Control Panel->Programs->Programs and Features, or Silverlight as a whole can be removed (and re-installed later, if need be). The IE9 update appears to be not removable by this means (one would have to use something like System Restore). I will continue to experiment.

another thing to do is go into Power Settings and turn off all the "Sleep" and "Hibernation" stuff and do not let the system turn off hardware or your HDD. I rectified Multiple hardware and OS crashes with this method.
