so im looking into a gaming laptop, however being at the mercy of my parents (I'm in high school) I have to stick with an asus q 500 however it has an expresscard port, I only have a 500 dollar budget, so a new build would have to have perifirals and the whole nine yards so my question is after this long winded sentance is, is windows 8 a big difference from 7, because I looked in my UEFI firmware settings and I couldn't overclock my RAM nor find anything related to banding multiple pcie x1 slots (network stacking possibly) to increase bandwidth is there a manufacturer profided bios or somthing, becasue I will not download a cracked one I need this thing for work, I've got everything else figured out, does windows 8 make it impossible to fool with the settings like in 7 thanks in advance and I'm sorry for the long post, I wont get a job until summer, because I'm in boarding school.

For you Windows 8 will help with the spelling issue with the built in spell check.

I am confused about what you are asking about.

Are you looking to overclock your laptop? If so this may be restricted by the OEM by hiding BIOS settings needed to overclock.

Are you looking to install a second network card? If so is this to try to get more bandwidth from the internet? If looking to increase you internet bandwidth remember that your Ethernet connection is usually much faster then the Internet connection anyway. IF you are looking to have two connections to your ISP and trying to bind those connections will need to be supported by the ISP.
