My new Razer tiamat headset isn't being recognized as 7.1 when I go into my window sound settings. Supposedly my motherboard has 8 channels of audio, I thought that meant 7.1 surround sound.

Also the headset sounds pretty good so far, but I heard it sounds bad out of the box without optimal settings, so does anyone want to share theirs?

Make sure you have plugged the analog into the correct ports.

You cannot optimize headphones, they are gaming headphones too, they will sound rubbish regardless.

In the Sound settings are right click and "Configure Speakers" and select 7.1.
