How high can I overclock an Athlon II X4 635 stably

no it is not worth the small increase to re
place the cpu

 


there's a big difference in the performance of the cpu's. having said that.......... who mentioned swapping cooling solutions? and you're expecting miracles from a lackluster processor. cheaper and better gains to be made for $80 by replacing cpu.

I'm not looking for miracles just looking for 1 ghz of combined gain.

I listened to you and ended up getting a phenomII 925 because that is the best cpu it can run. Thanks for the feedback. With the money I saved I bought a hyper 212 evo cooler

That was a lateral move IMO. While the performance might increase slightly. You won't really feel it so much in day to day use. Doing some FSB overclocking on my previous 645@3.8ghz was the max I could achieve with it. It felt quite snappy. 3.5ghz or so on those athlons felt about right. Cheers regardless.

I never had an athlon the phenom was my upgrade from an athlon 64
