I'm returning my Razer Tiamat 7.1's to Bestbuy tomorrow bcuz they are unbearable and I only had them for one day.
ANd now I want to go the sound card route and get the Creative Sound Blaster Z and get headsets that pair well with them, my question is tho will a usb headphone still sound nice with the sound card or do I need to get a headset with 3.5mm plugs?

ps: I'm using them for gaming mostly but I also want listen to music.

Well, most gaming headsets will sound like crap, especially Razer products. Returning it was a good call.

I'd recommend a good set of cans(headphones) and a clip on mic. You would be best off calling to a site called: http://www.head-fi.org/ and asking peoples recommendations on headphones.

Since you listen to music and play games a good set of audiophile headphones will be great with that sound card. I think people are fooling themselves when they buy gaming headsets and an expensive sound card.

Good headphones can range from 100-1000 dollars.

Gaming headsets are such a waste, except for these headsets made by a real audio company:

Awesome thank you thats exactly what I needed to know, I'm gonna get the Sennheiser PC 360. Can you still get more quality out of usb headsets with a soundcard then without?

I've heard good things about steel series, whats your take on those?

Analog is superior, USB is terrible most of the time.

I'd still recommend you asking around at the site I said, although those headphones I linked are undoubtedly good.

I cannot personally speak about Steel Series, I do not own any of their products, sorry.

One more question, I was liking those pc 360 sennheiser's and they are 3.5mm like I want but there are only 2 cords...is that gonna be a problem for the soundcard?

Not at all. Stereo headphones only requires one cable.

So one cable for the headphones, and the other for the mic.

When you plug it into your sound card make sure you plug it into the correct 3.5 jack port. Also make sure you set it to headphones in the creative driver control panel and in windows set it to Stereo.

Ok great, I will see if Bestbuy has them tomorrow and if not, I'll buy from Amazon. Thanks for all the help you have me really stoked for these ones in particulare cuz they look really comfortable!

No problem. If you have an issues setting it up just come back to the forums. Also, I don't think best buy sells these in the actual store, I see them online only. Check online before you head to your local retailer. Good luck!

Hey buddy I found some Sennheiser headhphones at Bestbuy, they aren't gaming but I picked up one anyways to test it out, it sounds good but they are horribly uncomfortable, I got a headache after only using for an hr. So I'm gonna end up not going with those Sennheisers from Amazon either cuz they have an identical build and I think they will be just as bad.
