Questions Regarding A Build

I am looking to build a custom $1,000 pc for myself this summer. This is my first build, however I think I get the general gist of building a pc. I have put together a build using PCPartPicker and would just like to get your guys' opinion on it. If you could answer the below questions for me, that would be great.

1. Will the system play games like Battlefield 3 and Far Cry 3 on High - Ultra settings? Will it play these games smoothly on a 1920x1080p 5ms monitor?

2. Will the computer run some of the newer games 5 years from now in medium+ settings?

3. Is the computer going to be good at pretty much everything I throw at it (from rendering videos, programming, etc.)

4. Will the wifi card be fast and sufficient with 40mbps download and 6mbps upload speeds?

5. Will I need to buy anything else besides what I have listed in the config in order to build my pc. (Ex. cable adapters for the hard drive to motherboard, etc.)

6. I don't believe that the blue PSU really matches with the rest of my build... could someone please suggest a good modular power supply that would be good for my build that is colored black and around the same price? I know this is silly, but I would really like my build to be the best it can be.

Here is the build:

Notice: I will be taking a Western Digital Blue 1 TB Hard Drive out of my current build to use with this pc. The SSD will be primarily for the OS and games I play a lot, and the HDD for files and other stuff.

Thank you so much for your time and help. Even if you answer the questions with a simple "yes" or "no", I would be very appreciative!

1) Yes, your CPU and GPU should handle every game at high texture levels. One thing I would consider however is upgrading the GPU to a 7870 XT or LE version, since they perform better at a minimal extra cost.

2) Probably around 3 years, but past that you'll probably want to do some upgrading.

3) Rendering will be alright, depends how serious your editing is, if it's quite heavy then you may want to consider an i7 3770k, but otherwise an i5 3570k is great for normal gaming usage.

4) Yup.

5) Your motherboard should have enough SATA cables, you're only using 2 storage drives right? You should be fine.

with games and tech changing so fast now..I cant tell you in 5 years if your rig still play games or be a paper weight.
the pc will do find today if you toss anything at it. I would drop 20.00 more for a larger ssd. (128g) you want leave room for the os and room for the ssd to do garbage and wear leavling. with most builds...pick up a disposiable wrist strap..an extra tube of thermal paste..You may want to order two sata 6g cables. most new mb come with one to four cables. most vendor toss in two cables. depending on your case you may want pick up a 9.00 case screw kit for right screws for hard drive and cd-rom. most new builders kill hard drives by using screws with to long of thread lengths and they screw into the hard drive pcb. also can pick up velcro or the cheaper plastic tye wraps. with some mb and cases you may need a small 4-6 inch pci 8 pin extender cable. i used one on my case just to make it neat fit under the mb.
depending on your ps and the wires..check to see if you need any adaptos for the video card. most good power supplys will have two 6 pin pci power cables. some will have two 6 by 2 pci power cables.

1) I would be estimating that on high settings you will be getting around 70+ on BF3 (6970 can hit that area as well, the 7870 has little bit more performance than the 6970)

2) Yes

3) Rendering would be better left up to an i7, but its your not doing it that much the i5 will do as well, it will just take longer

4) I dont mess with wifi cards so hopefully another person will be able to help you out

5) Everything looks good, I would advise a 128GB SSD ( I currently havea 64GB one as well it can only hold my OS, WoW, and a couple all small programs and its almost 90% filled)

Thanks for the help! The reason I decided to stick with the 64GB SSD is that I don't really have that much on my hard drive. Currently I am only using 150gb in total for all my games, os, etc.. However if SSD's get cheaper in the future, or there is a really good sale - I will try to fit in a 128GB SSD!
