Hi, I just finished my first build and I have a weird problem.
When I first started up the machine I had my Radeon HD 7870xt in the pci 3 slot, since it's a pci 3 card. I was freaking out because when I tried to boot for the first time I got no video signal at all. I was relieved to find that moving the card down to the 2.0 slot solved the problem.
Once I had everything installed and drivers fully updated, I tried moving the card back to the 3 slot. This is where things got a little strange. I discovered by accident that if I start the computer with the monitor plugged into the card's dvi output (with vga adaptor), it will not put out a signal. However, if i start the computer and THEN plug the monitor in, it will work, but only SOMETIMES. I started it this way and played some assassins creed for 3 hours with no problems, so I think the slot itself must be fine. What is going on?
Specs:
intel i53350p
asrock z75 Pro3
sapphire radeon hd 7870xt
corsair vengeance ddr3 2x4 gb
seagate 500gb 7200 rpm
win 7 64 home edition
corsair cx500
