Hi, I just finished my first build and I have a weird problem.

When I first started up the machine I had my Radeon HD 7870xt in the pci 3 slot, since it's a pci 3 card. I was freaking out because when I tried to boot for the first time I got no video signal at all. I was relieved to find that moving the card down to the 2.0 slot solved the problem.

Once I had everything installed and drivers fully updated, I tried moving the card back to the 3 slot. This is where things got a little strange. I discovered by accident that if I start the computer with the monitor plugged into the card's dvi output (with vga adaptor), it will not put out a signal. However, if i start the computer and THEN plug the monitor in, it will work, but only SOMETIMES. I started it this way and played some assassins creed for 3 hours with no problems, so I think the slot itself must be fine. What is going on?

Have you check whether the cables are connected properly? When the card can output video, try uninstall and reinstall video card drivers. Sometimes, a motherboard BIOS update can fix these issues so go to Asrock's website and see if there are any BIOS updates and fixes.
