Hey,

I have 8GB (2x4GB) Kingston HyperX Genesis (KHX1600CPD3) RAM. It's running at 1600mhz in Dual Ungaged configuration. I recently decided to benchmark my memory - just to check all is as it should be. When I tested my RAM using MaxxMEM, I got the following results:

Memory Copy - 10680 MByte/sec.
Memory Read - 8491 MByte/sec.
Memory Write - 6663 MByte/sec.
Memory Latency - 65.3 ns

When cross-referencing the results with Passmark Memory Benchmarks (http://www.memorybenchmark.net/ram.php?ram=Kingston+KHX1600C9D3%2F8G+8GB&id=891)

You can see that my results are quite a lot lower than in the above link - especially the ping (higher)

Also, I monitor my hardware almost all the time and I have never seen my memory usage go above 2500MB (even when playing the latest games at high settings.

Are these results anything to worry about?
Is it unusual to have such low memory usage (even when gaming)?
Is there something wrong with my configuration?
Is there some kind of bottleneck?
What can I do to improve my memory speeds/ping?

MY SYSTEM:

- AMD Phenom II x4 965 Black Edition OC @ 4.00GHz 1.475 V
- Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
- ASUS M5A78L LE
- 8GB Kingston HyperX Genesis
- XFX HD6850 OC @ 850MHz Core 1150MHz Memory 1.050 V
- Hitachi Deskstar 7200RPM 3GB/s 16MB Cache 500GB HDD
- XFX Pro Series Core Edition 450W
- Windows 7 Ultimate 64

One – Are they running at the correct Speed and timing’s. Normally I use CPU-Z and look at memory tab.
Never really benchmarked mine as there is Not that big of a difference in real li9fe day-2-day performance, out side of benchmark, say between DDR3-667 and DDR3-800
Out of curiosity Tried the BM and here are the results.
2 x 4 GSkill Ripjaw DDR3-1600 CL7,7,7,24,2T @ 1.60 V
Memory Copy .. 16783 Mbyte/Sec
Memory Read .. 16783 Mbyte/Sec
Memory Write .. 16783 Mbyte/Sec
Memory latency .. 52.2 nSec
Reached Memory Score .. 10.05 GB/Sec

Timings are 9-9-9-24-2T DRAM Frequency is 800MHz
One thing, though... by default, when I installed them, they ran at 1333. I had to change it to 1600 in the bios.
Can't say I noticed any difference after the change, though.
Not sure what's wrong. My read/write speeds do seem low.

I'm not to much up on AMD, but with intel SB CPU, 1333 is the spec, so DDR3 > 1333 will initially default to 1333. With IB the default was upped to DDR3-1600.
With My i5-2500K (Asrock Z68 MB), it was simply setting the bios to use XMP and selecting profile 1.

You probably did not notice much change in performance when changing it from 1333 -> 1600 as real life performance is not much of an increase. Pretty much need the benchmarks to see difference.
That's also getting to be the case with the "better" Sata III SSDs.
