After updating the firmware on the version 1 AP, I cann't find it on the network. It continues to work, accepting connections with the same credentials as before the upgrade. But, its IP has changed, or the web interface isn't working. I've used software to ping a wide range of IPs, but no joy. Anyone have a way to find it?

Going to be tough I suspect. When you can have any ip address and any subnet mask and the only way to access is though that unknown IP its is tough.

You should be able to reset it to default by holding the reset at power on...or whatever the process is for that model. Of course you take the risk it will still not respond and now not even work as a because it lost the configuration.

A couple of things that may give you a clue. Take the AP and plug it directly into the PC. Clear the arp cache in you PC and now ping addresses you think the AP may have. You need to have you PC on what you think is the same subnet with the correct mask. If you check the arp table if the device responds at all you should see a IP-mac address mapping with the mac of the AP. Another thing to try is to run wireshark and capture all the data from the AP on boot. Most devices will issue a ARP for their default gateway on startup. From that gateway you may be able to guess the IP it using and the subnet mask. If you get a gateway arp you could set your PC to that address so it responds and maybe you get lucky and the AP will then send you a real packet with its IP....you may need to mess with the subnet mask if it is not the standard /24

Found it! I had not set my PC to a compatible IP configuration to match the default settings on the WAP. WAP=192.168.1.245, PC=192.168.1.240. After changing the WAP settings to match my network, I found it takes power cycling to make the changes stick.

Updating the firmware reset the WAP to the default value of 192.168.1.245. I set my PC to 192.168.1.240. I believe I was wrong in saying it was working with the same credentials after the update. I believe the update turns off the security, so my wireless laptop could connect even without knowing any credentials. My local network is set to 192.168.0.xxx, so I couldn't find the WAP until I changed it.
