Hi everyone. I see similar problems have been posted before on here but not exactly what I am getting.
I have built a new computer using a sabertooth 990fx r2.0 and have corsair vengeance 2x4gb ram in two slots. When I try and boot the computer up the LED next to the ram flashes red after 5 seconds and its shuts down. I can boot the computer up using the mem_OK button which let's me get into the bios but after saving the settings which allowed the mem-ok boot it still won't boot up by normally pressing the power button. I still have to press the mem-ok to get to the bios setup stage.Any ideas? I have updated the bios with the latest version.
Thanks

I had this problem with my old memory. Just put the memory clock on auto in the bios. Don't try to overclock it or anything it doesn't like it. If you want to overclock i suggest useing the AMD software.

So long as its set on auto it should work if it doesn't ill help ya trouble shoot it.

Hi thanks very much. All the settings are set to auto to no avail. I have tried adjusting the dram timing controls and the memory frequency as well. Interestingly the ram is displaying as having a frequency of 1333mhz when it should be 1866mhz when its booted into the bios using mem-ok. However even if I set the frequency manually it still won't boot without using mem-ok.I have tried setting the frequency using numerous settings. The dram voltage is showing at 1.491v. Any advice would be appreciated.

Odd on the auto on the ram in the Ai tweaker that should allow it to auto clock to a frequency available. Is this a new build on a computer or new ram? I built a computer not to long ago and i could get into the bios but it wouldn't boot and it was a fault in the motherboard. Try removing the battery from the motherboard and unplugging the computer from the wall and let the power drain out. Then put the battery back in and reboot and read any error messages you get.

Just tried again just to be sure I will list the settings I changed-
- memory frequency changed from auto to ddr3-1866mhz
- dram timing control set to 9-10-9-27 from 9-9-9-24
-dram voltage set to 1.65v from auto of 1.494v

Still no joy, gets to post check on the ram led, the led then goes continual red for 5 seconds followed by the CPU led flashing red once then the power goes off - same as before.

It's a completly new build. I willt ry what you suggest and report back. I posted this also on Corsair's forum and it has been suggested that the MB maybe one which under voltages the RAM. However I have tried setting the dram voltage to 1.65v but I still then need to use mem-ok to start it up and when I go back intot he bios setting the dram voltage has set itself back to auto. Apparently all Ram displays as 1333mhz you have to configue it yourself int he bios to get it to run faster by changing the meemory frequerncy.

EDIT tried taking the battery out and cleared the CMOS still will only boot to bios using mem-ok. No errors came up just a statement saying the bios settings had been reset and to change them in the bios setup. I have to say I am at a total loss. I am starting to doubt myself but when I am in the bios should the boot device led be on permanently red? I might just have to phone Asus tech support.

How many watts PSU do you have? That could very well be it or your motherboard is borked. This is almost exactly what happened to a friend of mine's computer when we built it. If your PSU is at least 500w it should be fine unless your running to much stuff, in that case try only useing 1 ram stick and take as many peripherals off as possible. Otherwise i suggest RMAing the motherboard to whoever you got it from and getting a new one. These things happen sometimes, but first try these things and if not my advice is get a different one.

I use this in a lot of AMD builds if you want a decent motherboard
