What CPU is this?

Considering that it said "Intel Confidential," it looks like an engineering sample.

Further than that I can't tell you, since it doesn't have model markings, but you could
1) Count the pins
2) Based on pin count, select a motherboard and install it
3) Build an OS
4) Use system info to tell you what it is.

Alternatively, you could put it back in the trash. I'd go for that option; what if it's in the trash because it didn't work?

Where do you work that they discard engineering samples? Tom's Hardware?

You be surprised what you can find at my workplace in the trash bin and wonder my self why we have engineering samples of mainboards and CPUs from INTEL. Found many server boards and old dual core XEONs with the same markings in there. The company is a big KVM manufacturer and part of EMERSON.

I wanted to sell this on eBay but have no clue what CPU this is. Seems like i will list it as a mystery CPU.

That is a Socket 1366 CPU, either an i7 or a Xeon. As WyomingKnott said, without any physical markings, it is practically impossible to tell exactly what CPU it is. Install it onto a Socket 1366 motherboard and boot it and tell us what it says.

If i had a board, i would have dome that a long time ago. But thank you for your responds. At least i know the board type. I wish i knew if this CPU is working. I just don't want to risk buying a board and then end up with a useless CPU.
